Dr. Fred Whipple received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Tufts Medical School in 1991. He spent seven years at Harvard Medical School performing research in genetics and molecular biology. He then joined the faculty of California State University, Fullerton, where he served for seven years teaching genetics and molecular biology, and performing research in the field of DNA damage and repair.

At CSU Fullerton Dr. Whipple pioneered a course in Medical Genetics focused on genome analysis and disease associations.

Dr. Whipple has published research papers in several major peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Molecular Biology, Genes and Development, and Nucleic Acids Research. He has received research funding from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society.

Prior to entering graduate school, Dr. Whipple spent seven years at the computer company Wang Laboratories, Inc. Joining the company as a front-line field sales representative, he rapidly became one of the most productive reps in the U.S. He was then recruited to the corporate office, where he rose to the position of Assistant Director, Marketing Services for the corporation. At Wang Labs, Dr. Whipple had successful experience in development of marketing materials and technical documentation, and in sales force training, support, and management.
